Trekking in Socotra can be organized at different levels, not only for the fitness, young and adventurous ones!
Most of landscapes of the island are accessible and often effortless to trek. For those fascinated by the unexplored regions, Socotra Island offers breathtaking, enthralling trekking routs. In the vast rang mountains of “Higher” and Dixsam plateau there are limitless possibilities for trekking. Within the alluring arena, the Scant, Dixsam and Firmihin regions, occupy the central of the Island, with some points of interests for the trekkers. Spectacular views apart, the Higher foothills are just ideal for trekking, offering energetic out-door people a different and exciting option for holiday. The Scant, Tinnera, Firmihin, Dersmotin regions, are the most popular destinations for trekkers, though Ayhaft canyon, Momi plateau and Kalysan canyon are coming more popular. Some places in the west and west-south also have some very interesting trekking routs as well. Roads should be carefully chosen as some treks may be more difficult, or many involve high altitudes trekking, it is strongly suggested to be accompanied by a local guide to ensure that the pace of the trek is not too rapid, since this could result in exhaustion and would in any case not be enjoyable.
