Socotra is located in a marine environment that has high concentrations of virtually all the major sport fish species; Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Kingfish, Tuna, as well as Grouper and Snapper on the reefs. The coastal waters of Socotra teem with fish, attracted by the uniquely-structured undersea habitat which provides for an ideal growth environment and a virtually virgin fishing area! The majority of the locals on the island are fishermen. While we all know that fish tend to congregate due to the nature of the bottom terrain and currents, finding a good spot that hasn’t been over-fished is becoming harder and harder.
